Every vehicle we move is part of our customer’s inventory and is entrusted to us. Taking a few extra seconds to slow down, check our surroundings, and move carefully can prevent costly damage and keep everyone safe.
Take a moment before putting the vehicle in motion.
Adjust the seat and mirrors for clear visibility and comfortable operation.
Familiarize yourself with the gear selector, parking brake, and basic controls before moving an unfamiliar vehicle.
Check for existing scratches, dents, or other damage before moving the vehicle. If you notice something, report it before proceeding.
Check your surroundings- including mirrors, cameras, blind spots, pedestrians, and nearby vehicles or objects.
Never assume backup cameras or sensors show everything. Always visually verify that your path is clear.
⚠️ Not sure? Stop. Get out. Check.
If you are unsure about your clearance, do not guess. Stop the vehicle and get out to verify the space.
Slow down. Don't rush.
Use extra caution around other vehicles, poles, curbs, buildings, walls, equipment, and tight spaces.
NEVER squeeze through an area when you aren't sure there is enough clearance.
Avoid unnecessary vehicle movement whenever possible.
When possible, avoid backing into or out of congested areas. Position vehicles so they can be moved forward safely.
Watch carefully for pedestrians, dealership employees, customers, and other drivers, especially between rows of vehicles and around service areas.
Be especially cautious with trucks, vans, lifted vehicles, vehicles with extended mirrors, and other large or unfamiliar vehicles.
Be aware that EVs, hybrids, and high-performance vehicles may respond differently than expected.
If weather, lighting, or lot conditions make visibility difficult, slow down and ask for assistance.
Never use your phone or another device while the vehicle is moving.
Put the vehicle in Park before using a phone, checking the app, or handling any device.
Damage doesn't only happen while driving.
Before opening a door, check for clearance from:
Other vehicles • Walls • Poles • Equipment • Tight spaces
Make sure the vehicle is completely stopped and securely in Park before getting out.
If you have the keys, you are responsible for them.
Keep vehicle keys secure and in your possession while you are responsible for the vehicle.
Never leave keys unattended inside a vehicle, on a seat, dashboard, roof, or other unsecured location.
After completing the vehicle, return the keys to the dealership's designated key location or follow that dealership's specific procedure.
Never hand keys to another employee or dealership personnel without confirming who is taking responsibility for them.
Before leaving the dealership, make sure all keys you handled have been returned properly.
Never move a vehicle if you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with how to operate it.
Ask your manager or dealership personnel for assistance.
Taking an extra minute is always better than causing damage.
If you have an accident, make contact with something, or suspect that damage may have occurred:
1. STOP
Do not continue moving the vehicle unless instructed to do so.
2. REPORT
Notify your manager immediately. Do not wait until later or leave the dealership before reporting it.
3. DOCUMENT
Follow your manager's instructions for documenting the incident and any damage.
Never assume that existing damage has already been documented.
