Unforeseeable illness of yourself or a family member in your care, or true emergencies are the only excused reasons to miss work without prior approval. If you are calling out because of an emergency, we will ask the details of your emergency to help determine if it is an excused absence. Other situations such as childcare obstacles or transportation problems should be overcome so you can attend your scheduled shift.
Please CALL your manager on their cell phone AT LEAST 1.5 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR SHIFT START TIME if you are too sick to work.
Please call your manager first. If you can't get a hold of your own manager, please call your manager's manager. Figuring out coverage when someone is sick is very difficult and it’s near impossible when it’s later in the morning. Sometimes we have to send someone from 2 hours away to cover your route.
Please make sure it’s a phone call. If you get voicemail, please leave a message for both your own manager and their manager.
