Checking out keys is a daily part of our process and in order to prevent anyone from losing any keys we have a set process and policies on how we should handle them. Lost or misplaced keys can cost $1,000 - $2,000 to replace a set and significantly affect our company as a whole. When following the policies below, you should never lose a key, and if you happen to misplace one you can quickly find it by backtracking your steps.
All keys must be kept on provided carabiners. Keys should not be put in pockets, backpacks, waist pouch, or kept loose at any time.
Keys taken from a computerized key system shall not be given to anyone. If someone needs the key, it must be returned for them to check it out under their login.
If someone asks for a key, it is required that we go back to the key machine so that we can return it and they can check it out under their login. If the person has a customer on thet vehicle, please unlock it so the customer can check out the car while you're returning the keys. If the unit has not yet been shot, please follow up on this vehicle to see if the keys are back before you leave the dealership.
If multiple keys are taken at a time, a note should be written to ensure all keys are returned.
Keys should not be taken off the carabiner and put in the center console, door panel, or cup holder while shooting. They are to remain on the carabiner or in the ignition at all times
Vehicles should be locked after shooting unless the dealer has requested otherwise.
**IMPORTANT: If you lose or misplace a key, please reach out to your manager immediately. We do have ways to help locate these and your manager can help walk you through the recovery process.
